A homemade Mac and Cheese with 2 types of cheeses! It is topped off with buttered bread chunks for a crispy texture to combat the creamy cheese sauce. I would refrain from adding too much salt because the two types of cheese already add enough savouriness to the dish. You don’t want it to be overpowering salty! TIP: be patient with the roux mixture to ensure a smooth, creamy sauce.
GINGERBREAD HOUSE π Day 6: Decorating
Obviously the funnest (but messiest) part of the whole project. DECORATING! With a lot of our design depending on icing, we were able to use a variety of piping tips to create patterns that we wanted. We also wanted to contrast the dark brown of the gingerbread and chocolate covered roofs, so we added some brighter colours such as green, yellow, and blue. Finishing off the house with red accents brought even more of a Christmas feel to the house. My first gingerbread is now complete. Truly an unforgettable moment π

GINGERBREAD HOUSE π Day 5: Construction
The most frustrating part of the process was most likely the construction of the house. Because the icing dries slowly, we needed to hold the pieces in place for a long time. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get much done today because of this.

GINGERBREAD HOUSE π Day 4: Icing
GINGERBREAD HOUSE π Day 3: Baking
GINGERBREAD HOUSE π Day 2: Dough
GINGERBREAD HOUSE π Day 1: Planning
As of this day, we have officially started our gingerbread houses!!! This is my first time making a gingerbread house so I am unsure of what to expect. We have pulled up images from the internet and combined them to make our own house design.
Graveyard Cake π
This was a two day lab for halloween. For the first day, we made the batter from a cake mix, and froze it after baking for ease of icing for the next day. We also pressed fondant skeletons for decoration. The most difficult part was taking the fondant out of the molds because fondant can be quite sticky. Using more cornstarch can aid you with this process.
Luckily for us, halloween fell on the day we were decorating! The icing was easy to make, but icing the cake itself was difficult because it was constantly crumbling. However, the decorating was fun nonetheless!
Lasagnaπ₯«
The long awaited lasagna!!! My entire unit was super excited for this lab and the day finally came. We used our previously canned tomato sauce to make lasagna! We thought that our sauce was a little watery when we were layering the lasagna, but it turned out perfectly. I believe it is because the pasta soaked up some of the juices. I was completely satisfied with the results π
